Once More, Maria SHAMopova Exposed

Minutes ago, Maria Shamopova was blown off the court in the semi-finals at Wimbledon, hardly a surprising result after she was outsted from the lowly Tier III Birmingham event by a much lower ranked, unseeded American (as previously reported on La Russophobe).

Sharapova lost 3-6, 6-3, 2-6, and lost the match game on her own serve. Worse, she was beaten by Amelie Mauresmo, the greatest choke player in the history of the women's game, and the loss was even more lopsided than the score appears. Mauresmo had a dominant 3-1 position in the second set after whipping Maria easily in the first, and then, as is her habit, she choked and handed Maria the second set, failing to win another game. Despite that, Maria showed her pathetic level of conditioning and once again could not handle playing a third set and was totally dominated there. Despite serving at 70% and hitting more winners than her opponent, Maria struck an outrageous number of unforced errors (40!) compared to a much smaller number for Mauresmo (just 16).

Maria managed to denigrate the proceedings even further by (a) screeching like hoot-owl in a highly annoying fashion every time she hit the ball (maybe she figures her only shot at winning is to drive her opponent to distraction) and (b) constantly and wrongly complaining about line calls (the TV commentator noted that in a recent tournament where players tested out a system that would allow them to occasionally challenge line calls using an instant replay system, Maria was a perfect 0-11 in her challenges -- she never got a single one right) and (c) continuing her incredibly boring, one-dimensional level of play, the same one that is driving legions of fans from the sport and making her matches more like spectacles than sport.

So much for the idea of Russian dominance in women's tennis: since Russia's golden 2004 where Russian women took three of four grand slam titles, we have only seen one Russian get as far as a grand slam final (Kuznetsova in this year's French Open) and no more titles, while Maria has conclusively demonstrated that her 2004 Wimbledon crown was the absurd fluke that sensible people knew it was at the time. Russia has four of the top ten ranked players in the world, yet only one Russian has made a grand slam final in the last seven opportunties and only one Russian got as far as the semi-finals at Wimbledon this year.

Enough crazy Russophile talk about Sharapova as a champion. She isn't. She's a fine player and definitely deserves to be ranked in the top 20, but more than that is just the empty predictable bluster of the empty-headed Russophile idiots. Though ranked #4 in the world, Maria was quite appropriately not among the four nominees for the ESPY award for best female tennis player. Her rank is pure illusion. Like most Russians, she isn't interested enough in real substance or in real hard work, and prefers to live in a world of illusions and self-delusions. As long as that is the case, Russians will never achieve true greatness on the tennis court or anywhere else for that matter.

Jesus, you really are mental. Giving your pathetic opinion on who deserves what, BUT denying the same right to your opponents. ENOUGH raving mad Russophobe's talk about Sharapova's success being an illusion and particularly statements like Russians will never achieve true greatness on the tennis court or anywhere else for that matter. Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself more than anybody else.

Truth hurts, doesn't it? It's really annoying that you can't fool people about Russia the way you used to, isn't it, and that I keep reminding people about the actual facts? I feel your pain, dude.

Russophone is just jealous because:

- she cannot play tennis, or cannot afford it.
- this blog is her life, and she does not have friends.
- sharapova is a successful Russian who came to the USA; and in the case of LR who lived most of her life here, her only achievement is an average of five "bigoty" posts per day.
- sharapova is good looking; and LR is not.
- her recent vacation was dissapointing (she did not get any)
- she tries to be like Dostoevskiy, but did not read any of his books.
- she claims to be an expert on "rise and fall of neo-soviet union," but she does not really understand russian.
- at one point she was in Russia, who paid her salary, then threw her out; now she needs to get her anger out.
- government sponsored prozac only arrives once a month, but she already used it all up within a first day after her dissapointing vacation.
- she tries to generate extra traffic to her site by using Sharapova's name.
- her parents (with whom she stays) cannot arrange her a husband.
- she name drops Regina Spektor's name; who does not really want to be associated with wackos.

readers please continue...

ANONYMOUS: You are just jealous because La Russophobe operates a successful blog and you are a success at nothing. You cannot dispute La Russophobe's substantive points, so you launch pathetic Neo-Soviet personal attacks. You have never seen La Russophobe, you know nothing about her, so your comments about her personal life and appearance are merely the sheer ignorance of a moronic Russophile caveman. Only such a person can consider Maria Sharapova "successful." Such idiots also considered Anna Kournikova "successful" even though she never won a single tournament. That kind of thinking is why Russia is becoming extinct. So thanks for proving how very right La Russophobe really is.

LaRussophobe, you are ill.
Only ill people could find in a single tennis player a theme for blaming the whole country.
Sharapova is young, and she is working hard. Her main success is yet to come.
Kournikova was never really popular in Russia, but merely in West.
You attempts to find something negtive in every trifle are pathetic.

"You have never seen La Russophobe, you know nothing about her"

Come on LR, your ignorant statements draw a nice protrait of you...

It's ok, just because sharapova is better looking than you are, or just because she managed to become successfull after moving to the USA, unlike you:-), you don't have to hate her.

"Such idiots also considered Anna Kournikova "successful" even though she never won a single tournament."

BTW, Kournikova was only considered successful in the west:-)

Haha. You really don't get out much... Ask you father, he played with himself many times to the pictures of Kourni, and people before her:-) That's where the best semen went. You are a product of abnormal left overs:-)

KARMEN: Russians have been saying that their main success was yet to come for centuries. We suggest you study a bit of their history.

If Sharapova's main success is yet to come, then her main recognition should be yet to come. But she's the highest paid female professional athlete right now, not in the future. Isn't that putting the cart before the horse?

"We suggest you study a bit of their history."

Which is full of troubles and then successes. So LR you need to study a bit too...

In regards to Sharapova, she won Wimbeldon. Did you win anything in your life?

"But she's the highest paid female professional athlete right now"

So sharapova is smart. She get maximum benefits with minimum input:-)

In five years, she will have all the money in the world, and you will still post on this blog...

anonymous: "Did you win anything in your life?"

you gave an open ended question... LR will say that s/he won $5 in lottery to prove you wrong. Your question was 1567th sign of Russia's apocalypse:-)

ANONYMOUS: It's the fact that Russians think that is "smart" that is destroying Russia utterly. It's sad you don't see this, and will destroy yourself.

ANONYMOUS: It's typical Neo-Soviet propaganda to attack the messenger of truth. Solzhenitsin got the same treatment from the USSR, but he had the last laugh when it disappeared from the face of the earth, just as I will.
