Victorious Yushchenko Under Physical Threat . . . Again!
No sooner has Viktor Yuschenko won a stunning victory in Ukraine, forcing early elections to decide whether pro-Russian or pro-democracy forces will govern the country instead of relying on the backroom politics favored by Viktor Yanokovich, than suddenly we learn about renewed efforts to kill Yushchenko and other members of the Orange Coalition, undoubtedly fometed by the Kremlin. See Publius Pundit for a worrying critique of a report on the developments in Kommersant. The Washington Times reports:
Backers of a political rival have been plotting to assassinate supporters of Ukraine President Viktor Yushchenko, a top aide said Friday. Valery Heletei, head of the Presidential Secretariat's service for law enforcement agencies, told a news conference that papers identified the alleged victims, Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, and Viktor Baloha, head of the Secretariat, by their initials, Interfax reported. Heletei said the alleged assassination plot was being planned by backers of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. "It is clear from these schemes who plans to provoke, and not only provoke but execute, murder and in what way," Heletei said, Interfax reported.

This is Hector,
Kim, you really need to think critically. Do you really believe that Yushchenko and Yanukovych are truly rivals? Yushchenko fired his little PM Tymoshenko and gave her position to Yanukovych. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the pupose of a revolution (in this case the "Orange Revolution") to remove a polical force from power? Yanukovych didn't get to be president, but got to be prime minister. In a state ran by mafia, one shouldn't naively jump to conclusions to quickly about the situation.
You moron, Yuschenko was forced to accept Yanukovich at gunpoint. Nobody tried to poison Yanukovich, now did they? Yanukovich isn't talking about Ukraine joining NATO, is he?
"In a state ran by mafia, one shouldn't naively jump to conclusions to quickly about the situation." -- A very good motto for analyzing Russia. We'll be sure to remember it!
This is Hector,
I'm a moron? I'm not the one who absurdly thinks that Russia is still Soviet. What evidence do you have of this accusation of Yushchenko being forced to fire Tymoshenko? On the contraty it was due to inner conflicts. Yushchenko even criticized her work saying it led to an economic slowdown. "Forced to accept Yanukovych"? What a dumb Paris Hitlon broad you are Kim! Yanukovych had promised Yushchenko not to interfere with his pro-imperialist position. That's how he got the job.
