Russia: Guilty of Mass Murder in Sudan

The New York Times editorial for May 30th:

Behind-the-scenes diplomacy has done nothing to stop the slaughter of innocents in Darfur. For months, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations and other international leaders have been claiming that Sudan’s president, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, was ready to halt further attacks by the Sudanese armed forces and its janjaweed militia allies and accept a robust international protective force. Instead, Mr. Bashir and his henchmen have used those months to kill still more people and drive others from their homes.

Yesterday, President Bush rightly served notice that America has finally run out of patience with Mr. Bashir’s duplicity and will press the international community to stand up to the genocide.

Washington, which already has sanctions in place against Sudan’s government and state-owned companies, will now expand the reach and strengthen the enforcement of those sanctions and will also penalize Sudanese government officials directly involved in Darfur policy. The European Union, Russia and China should do the same. The more universal the economic pressure, the more likely that Sudan’s government will yield to it voluntarily.

Mr. Bush also called for a new Security Council resolution, to give the sanctions the force of international law. The resolution should also authorize an internationally enforced ban on offensive Sudanese military flights over Darfur.

At least 200,000 of Darfur’s people have already been killed and more than 2.5 million have been driven from their homes. More diplomatic dawdling, without strengthened international economic and military pressure, would condemn the survivors to the same fate.

Sudan’s apologists — most notably China, Russia and South Africa — have protected Mr. Bashir and his government from any serious punishment until now. If they continue to resist strong United Nations action and deny the reality of genocide in Darfur, many more people will needlessly die. And the blame will not be Mr. Bashir’s alone.

You don't think the Sudanese government is responsible for genocide in Sudan, rather than the Russians?

In any case, AmeriKKKa supplies millions and millions of dollars worth of arms to Israel, who are carrying out ethnic cleansing and genocide against their own Palestinian population, as well as Israel's holocaust against innocent women and children in Lebanon last year in their bid to create a racially pure Jewish middle east. Cnn we expect la russophobe to be equally critical of America's funding of the modern Palestinian holocaust?

This is Hector,

How is it that Russia is responsible for the civil war in Sudan? You should really provide proof of your accusations. Were you aware that the U.N is headed by the same imperialist powers that carved up, raped, exploited, and enslaved Africa for their own gains? Omar al-Bashir and his capitalist regime is indeed murderous, but to believe that U.S or U.N cares about the bloodshed is completely naive. Ask yourself: had al-Bashir been a U.S henchman, do you think the U.S/U.N would really give a damn?

HANS OFF SUDAN!
DEFEND THE CHINESE WORKERS STATE!

What an amusing anti-semite diatribe from the
permanent idiot with the clown suit on. The Sudanese government is responsible for the genocide, the Russians are amoral whores in supporting the government that perpetrates the genocide. Just what part of that equation do you not underestand? Think you can stay on task with the topic at hand.

How is it that Russia is responsible for the civil war in Sudan?

Hector, your reading comprehension and cognitive skills seem a little challenged. Try re-reading the text slowly a few more times. There was no assertion that Russia is responsible for the civil war in Sudan.

Your bizarre rambling could be better organized with the right medications. Zyprexa is specific for that.

Consider it.

This is Hector,

My dear Penny, perhaps you should read the headline a little more carefully. I'm aware of what the text implies, however I see no relation with the ridiculous accusation that Russia is responsible for the Sudan Civil War. Please read carefully next time. Adding to this I didn't see a word of anti-semitism coming from the "Zhirinovsky falcon". Criticizing Israel doesn't mean anti-semitism. This is one absurd lie that the bourgeoisie tries to play on. Secondly before you go accusing Russia of supporting genocide, the U.S supported neo-Ustasha Croatia and their fascistic leader Franjo Tudjman who cleansed Croatia almost entirely of its Serb minority. Also, the U.S supported genocide in my fathers country: Guatemala where the government under Gen. Efrian Rios Montt carried ethnic cleansing against the Mayan population. Furthermore, what goes on in Sudan is NOT genocide, but a very bloody civil war. Read the article by Jonathan Steele "A brutual civil war, but not genocide". http://commentisfree.guardian.co.uk/jonathan_steele/2006/09/sorry_george_clooney_but_the_l.html

Just how in the heck was my post "anti-semitic". I thought anti-semtism was irrational hatred of all Jews, because they are Jews. I don't hate Jews but I do hate the actions of the Zionist regime which is deliberately targetting innocent Palestinain civilians, women and children in their bid to racially cleanse the middle east.

Let's be honest, if you were a Palestinian woman whose husband had been murdered by the Zionist regime, whose house had been bulldozeed to make way for the apartheid "security" wall, and who had been fired from her job and refused welfare assistance on account of her religion, presumably your feelings would be motivated by injustice and revenge? Or is the desire for a decent life in your own home "anti-semitism".

One final question - how many countries has Russia actually invaded? Because the last time I checked, AmeriKKKa had bombed at least 22 countries since WW2. Put your own house in order before criticising others.
