Beslan Mothers Sue Kremlin for Killing their Children

The Moscow Times reports:

Relatives of children killed in the 2004 Beslan attack have filed a lawsuit in the European Court of Human Rights accusing the government of failing to properly investigate the massacre that killed 330 people.

Ella Kesayeva, head of the Voice of Beslan group, said late Wednesday that 89 people had signed a lawsuit filed to the Strasbourg court. The application says Russian authorities violated human rights treaties by denying victims' relatives the right to an objective investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, a court in Kabardino-Balkariya charged two police officers with negligence Wednesday in connection with the attack. The officers, Mukhazhir Yevloyev and Akhmed Kotiyev, are accused of failing to prevent the attackers from setting up their training and staging camp in Ingushetia.

Saying that "the Kremlin" killed those kids is like saying that the government is responsible for the deaths of passengers when it shoots down a hijacked airliner headed for New York or Washington...don't blame the people who tried to save lives, blame the terrorists for taking them.

Au contraire. Many people DO blame George Bush and Bill Clinton for failing to take aggressive action against Al Quaeda, as well they should.

You assume that the Kremlin's raid on the school was in good faith. It wasn't. There is plenty of documentary evidence to prove that, and what's more the Kremlin's bad faith in the coverup afterwards confirms it.

You need to become a bit more familiar with the facts of the Beslan atrocity. We suggest you start by clickig the "Beslan" link at the bottom of this post and reading our entries.

This is Hector,

I would say this is one of the very few intelligent things La Russophobe ever posted. But how would the U.S expect to crush al-Qaeda when they created it, and worked with them on numerous occasions?

Anonymous person: So what you're saying is if terrorists put hostages in the line of fire like in the Moscow Theater or the Beslan school the Russians should pull the trigger anyway, blame the terrorists and claim innocence? What an disgusting excuse for imperialist attacks on civilians.
