More Athletic Humiliation for Russia

In yet another bitter and humiliating athletic defeat for Vladimir Putin's Russia, the performance of its athletes in the country's favored sport of ice skating again came up short, and this time in front of Russia's home crowd at the Cup of Russia Grand Prix event. Worse yet, in ice dancing Russia was bested by an American pair, having to settle for second place, and Russia was bested again, this time by Germans, it its revered pairs event. Russia failed to medal in the women's event and settled for a lowly bronze in the mens. La Russophobe dares to wonder how much failure is necessary before the penny drops for the Russian people . . . or perhaps it's already too late and they've simply decided that failure is the new success.

Just to provoke another hysterical howl from you: Russian women's volleyball team world champion.

Glory to Russia!

BTW, when US sportsmen losing, is it clear sign of US failure? When German, Chinese or Japanese sportsmen losing, is it too?

UGLY: Why would you think that would provoke a howl? I didn't say Russia ALWAYS fails. Even random chance will allow success on some occasions. Are you really ignorant enough to think that volleyball is as important to Russians as ice skating? If so, you've helpfully proved my point about Russians, so thanks!

I guess you don't read much in English. WhenEVER the US experiences a major athetic debacle it ALWAYS ask searching questions of the people in highest authority and seeks to make radical changes.

But your problem is one of basic brain activity. You see UGLY, America lacks the OTHER INDICIA OF FAILURE that Russia has: declining population, poverty, disease, decline of democracy. It is in this CONTEXT that Russia's athetic failure serves as CONFIRMATION of the OTHER INDICIA. So your analogy to America is simply idiotic.

Meanwhile, you show yourself to be a classic neo-Soviet man, in other words a failure. Instead of looking for ways for Russia to improve it's skating performance, you look for rationalizations to AVOID doing any hard work or accepting blame, just as your Soviet forefathers did. Such an attitude destroyed them, and it will just as surely destroy you.

So howl ended. Now, to the matter.

Even random chance will allow success on some occasions.

System of volleyball championship is complicated enough not to allow random winner. Just for your enlightment.

Are you really ignorant enough to think that volleyball is as important to Russians as ice skating?

I am Russian. You are not. So I know better what is more important for Russians. It's logic, stupid.

WhenEVER the US experiences a major athetic debacle it ALWAYS ask searching questions of the people in highest authority

OK, you only need to proof it was MAJOR athletic debacle and questions of the people of highest authority not posed already. I think you'll fail in that.

It is in this CONTEXT that Russia's athetic failure serves as CONFIRMATION of the OTHER INDICIA.

So you are admitting that bronze medal in some sport event is not failure by itself. Thanks.

Instead of looking for ways for Russia to improve it's skating performance, you look for rationalizations to AVOID doing any hard work or accepting blame

Me? I am not related to skating anyway, it is not my job. So any questions related to skating are not my problem.

And, silly, looking for rationalizations is sign of person who can rationalize. You, for example, have not such ability so you are just howling.

Such an attitude destroyed them, and it will just as surely destroy you.

I hope you'll not hold you breath until this attitude destroys me. You are risking suffocation. Heheh.

BTW, which one of Soviet forefathers had been destroyed by such attitude? I can't remember anyone and I guess you are just lying again.

If you agree Russians suck at ice skating despite the fact that the country is covered with ice and snow and adore the sport, and were humiliated on home ice with a wretched performance, I'm happy to admit that they are great at volleyball despite the fact that the vast majority of the country (indeed, the world) could care less about it and probably has no idea that it is even so.

3rd place in some not-of-the-first-grade-coup is 'suck'? My, what a problems you have.

despite the fact that the country is covered with ice and snow

...and bears on the streets are playing on balalaikas...

and adore the sport

Whole country? Do you have poll results to prove this?

and were humiliated on home ice

You think it's humiliation? I think it's competition. You know, that thing sport is about.

I'm happy to admit that they are great at volleyball

Thanks, thanks. Now I am seeking recording of translation from semi-final of last Olympics - game with Brazil too. It was fantastic performance.

despite the fact that the vast majority of the country (indeed, the world) could care less about it

Of course, you have poll result from the country (indeed, the world) which indicates how much more they care about skating than about volleyball. Care to give me a link?

UGLY: Are you saying you believe Russians care as much about volleyball as about ice skating? If you don't have a poll result to prove your ridiculous suggestion, don't make it. If you think failing to win gold in any event at a skating championship held in Russia isn't total humiliation, then your standards are classically neo-Soviet and you are surely doomed.

Just my words.

If you think failing to win gold in any event at a skating championship held in Russia isn't total humiliation, then your standards are classically neo-Soviet and you are surely doomed.

LR, I think you aren't so significant to have not any right for setting standards for Russia. Try to think about it.
