Something to Think About

Here's something interesting to think about: Did you know that under Article 40 of the Charter of Fundmental Rights of the European Union, a citizen of the EU is entitled to vote and run for office in municipal elections wherever he resides in the EU?

This means that if Russia joined the EU, not only could foreigners enter Russian cities and vote in their elections, they could run for office and take power in local government. Perhaps this is why Russia will never join the EU. Or perhaps its why Putin is slowly but surely obliterating elected office in Russia at the municipal level, so that Russia can join the EU if it likes and be immune from foreign invasion.

In any case, quite interesting to think about Russia being invaded and conquered from below.

No, that's not the reason we'll never join the EU. The reason is basically the same as why the USA will never join the EU. Figure it out.

NIKOLAY: You truly are a classic Russian moron.

First, the whole point of the article is to suggest what is interesting to THINK about, not what is likely to happen.

Second, America DOESN'T WANT Russia to become "part" of Europe, and nor does any democratically-inclined person. The more Russians and Europeans hate each other, the more isolated Russia makes itself, the sooner Russia's downfall and then end of the neo-Soviet union. We suggest you read the title bar of this blog and try to think just LITTLE before you write next time. A side point of the article is to demonstrate how unlikely such cooperation ever is because of Russian attitudes just like yours, which you've helpfully illustrated.

Third, America can't possibly be argued to be "part of Europe" like Russia, so suggesting that American wouldn't join the EU is the kind of statement only a totally ignorant neo-Soviet man could possibly make.

Fourth, your knowledge of American history is typically ape-like for a Russian. In 1787 the separate American states (which had been countries for six years after winning the revolution against England) created the first EU like organization, ceding some of their soveriegnty for a larger purpose. That thing is now rather successful, it's called the United States of America. So Americans are perfectly capable of thinking beyond their paranoia, unlike Russians who languish in the backwaters of history and will continue to do so for the short remaining period of time that Russia exists before destroying itself.

Isolated — from whom? Wake up. The world is big.

Putin said we're European. I disagree.

"Ape-like" is a rather amusing epithet to hear, considering the notorious, and rather funny, trouble your education system has with the theory of evolution. And with teaching the remaining 9,000,000 people to read and write.
