The Sunday Funnies Part II: On the Fate of Democracy in Russia
The tombstone reads: "Russian Democracy."

The caption reads: "Ladies and gentlemen, we have word from the flight deck that the aircraft is now leaving the area of democracy, we apologize for any inconvenience."

Ellustrator's comment to the cartoon reads 'There are many cops on the roads'.
So what is your message ? That all the cops should be burried in the grave of Russia's democracy ?
You cry a river over the removal of a useless scribbler, probably removed by her own mafia-family. But suggesting to bury (i.e. murder) dozens of cops is just fine with you ? I guess this is as much 'neo-soviet russophile' one can get, even by your standards.
SERGEJ:
I believe the point of the cartoon is to show Russian democracy being laid in it's grave and covered over by numerous nameless faceless policemen, some of whom are victims of the state because they are underpaid and some of whom are complicit in the killing of democracy because they are corrupt.
I wasn't aware that there was a problem of Russian policemen being killed off for defendaing democracy and opposing the corruption of the Kremlin. If you have evidence of such killings, do by all means post some links to it.
Actually, as I understand things, decent policemen are being killed off by the Russian people themselves, not by criminals, but by Russian people who refuse to pay policement (and doctors, and teachers) a living wage, forcing them down the road to corruption and complicity with the evil forces of dictatorship in Russia. I urge Russians to stop killing off their decent policemen in this way.
As for your attempt to label Ms. Politkovskaya a "useless scribbler," we might remind you that Russia has chosen to be governed by "men of action" like "President" Putin for centuries and now is, as the direct, result, on the verge of extinction, losing 1 million people per year and working for $2.50 per hour on average. So perhaps your understanding of "utility" needs some serious revision (unless of course you are a suicidal maniac).
I am not attempting to label her a 'useless scribbler', I do it. What is more useless than a member of the 'Dead Scribbler Society' ? What went through her mind when dying in that lift ? A mafia-style bullet.
Yes, a mafia-style bullet and not a FSB-style bullet.
Kim, give a single piece of evidence that it was the FSB. You can't. But the way she was shot indicates as clear as ice that she was disposed by the mafia. As you claim to be such an outstanding expert on Russia you actually should know this.
SERGEJ: Trust me, you're just attempting. Why do you try to change the subject? Who she was killed by has nothing to do with who she was. Asking for "evidence" of action by the SECRET police might just be the silliest thing I've ever heard. Putin condemned her right after she was killed, Gordievsky said it was the KGB, that's all I need to know. If you choose to delude yourself until they come for YOU (or your family), that's your affair.
You seriously ask me to trust a person running a blog named 'La Russophobe'? Now THIS is the silliest thing ever published on the blogosphere :-)
*What* she was is very well important if you want to answer the question *who* she was killed by. She was too insignificant for the Kremlin to even waste a thought on ordering her killing.
Condemning a person does not necessarily include the wish to have the person killed.
People taking folks like Gordievsky for reliable sources also believe in the Immaculate Conception. And these people are either Jewish carpenters or suffering from a paranoid personality disorder.
And yes, the FSB is behind every and any bush, out to kill all of us. Well, maybe not all of us ;-)
