Uh-oh . . . How far from another meltdown is Russia?
Despite being a so-called "energy superpower," Russia continually faces nationwide brownouts and blackouts of electricty. Is demand outstripping supply, forcing nuclear stations to work overtime and risking another Chernobyl-like meltdown? RIA Novosti reports:
The second generating unit of the Leningradskaya nuclear power plant near Russia's second largest city of St. Petersburg was shut down Saturday by an emergency protection system due to heavy winds, a Rosenergoatom spokesman said. "An emergency situation was caused by a storm which hit the region," the spokesman for the state-run nuclear power generating monopoly said. He said emergency shutdown of the unit's turbo generator No.3 took place at 6.58 Moscow time (2.58 a.m. GMT) after a 350-KV high-voltage cable short circuit. The turbine No.4 was shut at 7.15 Moscow time (3.15 a.m. GMT). Background radiation at the plant and surrounding areas does not exceed the permitted level, he said.

You are SUCH a classic Russian MORON. Instead of coming forth with YOUR OWN evidence that my statement is incorrect, you challenge me to prove it. Didn't it ever occur to you how utterly hypocritical and STUPID this makes you look? Russians live in such incredible isolation, just like the Emperor and his new clothes, totally unable to perceive the impression they make on the outside world.

UGLY: You're such a mental dwarf. I never said the reason for Chernobyl was lack of electricty and overuse. I said that there could be another Chernobyl, that's all. But now that you've mentioned it, it's quite possible that Chernobyl had a meltdown because it was pushed beyond its limits due to Soviet inability to supply electricty to the country.
Russians regularly lose hot water during the summer because of the inability to supply energy to heat the water, and the article clearly explains how there were massive problems witht he delivery of electricty last winter that are expected to get worse this winter, which logically means that existing resources, including nuclear power plants, will be taxed to their limits. If you can read I suggest you go back to kindergarten and start over again.
UGLY: By the way, another indication of how utterly pathetic that thing between your ears is is that you think you know the cause of Chernobyl. It's simply psychotic for you to say such a thing, as if the Soviet government would release accurate information about it. It's "thinking" like that which has brought Russia to her knees.
