Just When You Think it Can't Get any Worse II: Russia goes after the Orphanages
An ever-alert member of the readership relays to La Russophobe that, relying on an item from Gazeta.ru, the Moscow News reports that, not satisfied with destroying Mikhail Khodorkovsky personally as well as his friends and associates, in the manner of the mafia the Kremlin is now proceeding against his charitable endeavors and the evil orphans who assisted him in his rise to challenge Kremlin authority:
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has issued a warrant forbidding any operations with real estate and movable property belonging to the Podmoskovny orphanage, founded by jailed oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky. The website quoted a statement by Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s press center which said that it was unclear what court decision served to justify the warrant and what investigation the prosecutors were conducting when they arrested the orphanage’s assets. The Podmoskovny orphanage and lyceum in the village of Koralovo near Moscow was founded by Mikhail Khodorkovsky 12 years ago. It has become a home for orphans of Russian military men, children from single-parent families and those who survived the hostage crises in Beslan and in Moscow’s Nord-Ost theater. The orphanage is headed by Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s parents.
NB: La Russophobe takes this opportunity to congratulate herself on this, her 100th post.
