Putin Can Install Stooge for 4 Years, Return in 2012, Russia Spirals to Doom
MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Vladimir Putin might be theoretically elected president for a third term, but not in 2008, as this would violate the constitution, Russian State Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov said. "I believe it would be wrong to amend the constitution to suit a particular person," Gryzlov told journalists on Thursday, commenting on results of a public opinion poll recently conducted by the Levada Center sociological foundation, according to which nearly 60% of those polled would like Putin to be reelected to a third term. Gryzlov pointed out that the constitution allows the same person to serve as president no longer than two successive terms.
