The Guardian has a lengthy profile of Ksenia Sobchak, the daughter of Anatoli Sobchak, the law professor and mentor of Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg State University, who became the first freely elected mayor of the city of St. Petersburg and then the first freely elected mayor of the city to flee the country to avoid indictment and prosecution for corruption. It refers to her as the Russian Paris Hilton.
