The allocation of Sudetenland with its German population to a Czechoslovakia that clearly only wanted the land but not the people was simply unfair. It were these kind of actions that gave rise to Hitler. By bullying a country you seduce them to elect someone who stands up to the bully. And you have to admit that Hitler was initially quite successful at that (rearmament, Rhineland, Saarland, Austria, Sudetenland). This situation even influenced the behaviour of Chamberlain in München. It would have been very hard for him to send English soldiers to die for the right of the Czechs to rule over 3 million Germans.

- you see a similar pattern of bullying in the Western and specially American foreign policy towards Russia since the end of the Cold War. There was no need to expand NATO. There is no need for a missile shield. And the Ahtisaari proposal that they now try to impose in Kosovo is pure ethnic cleansing towards Kosovo's Serbs.
Yes, we should resist Russia when it is bullying neighbouring countries. But if we want to stop the developments in Russia it is at least as important that we are fair to Russia and stop our own bullying.Wim Roffelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05950733237377413606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25230932.post-46376205448477514082008-01-18T16:50:00.000-05:002008-01-18T16:50:00.000-05:00outlines the contours of Russian fascism and calls...outlines the contours of Russian fascism and calls for a renewed commitment to containment:

in other words, he is saying like kennan did, its time for another chapter in the cold war.

america did NOT win the cold war, the cold war from day one, kennans long letter, was a concept of CONTAINMENT...

so this proposal may sound new, but all it is saying is that they havent come to their senses, they are dangerous and going to hurt people, and so everyone will have to contain them.

this form of handline russia is a form that says "we dont want to kill you, we want you healthy, so come on"... while the russia side is "we want to kill you and we will kill you and we dont want to come to our senses"

so ametrica and the west is going to hodl them down again...

and the russian people are going to suffer..

while people may celebrate stalin for industrializing the country...

anyone care to compare it to the countries, like italy, who at that time also industrialized on the western plan and ideas, and so didnt have to decimate their population to get there!!!Artfldgrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13594241837693535704noreply@blogger.com
