I had...A wonderful post for Independence Day, Kim. I had been engaged in a discussion leading to argument for some time with the administrator of the "Being Had" website concerning the problems in Belarus. Not being able to stick to the topic at hand, the administrator and some of his less than clear-thinking friends tried to make the argument about what was wrong with America. If any concept so proves the opposite of Belarus, it's this wonderful statement:<BR/><BR/><I>More than any rival, America corrects itself.</I><BR/><BR/>The Russian government may be run by mean-spirited, cutthroat bastards, but can you blame even them for asking whether oblivious dumb-ass Aliaksandr Lukashenka will actually make the necessary changes to allow him to pay back the <A HREF="http://www.charter97.org/eng/news/2007/07/04/kredit" REL="nofollow">$2 billion</A> credit he's asking from them (up from $1.5 billion just a few months ago)?<BR/><BR/>God Bless America. May the birthplace of the man who wrote that song also learn "course correction". In the case of Lukashenka, course correction would best be made with a firing squad.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
