If you think Chechnya is independent then what date have they established for NATO membership?

Chechnya is not independent. I believe what Chechnya does have is some degree of autonomy, but autonomy and independence are two different things. Russia has never been against granting autonomy to its regions. Consider the example of the Muslim Republic of Tatarstan, which enjoys a high degree of autonomy within the RF. Why should Moscow care how the Chechnyans chose to live or how they chose to settle their tribal clan feuds, as long as Chechyna is firmly within the Russian orbit?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25230932.post-47539700841915919732007-11-22T18:34:00.000-05:002007-11-22T18:34:00.000-05:00The families of Russian soldiers killed there prob...The families of Russian soldiers killed there probably care. It is the whole point of conquering it 200 yrs ago! not to gain resource or markets, but to ensure security over transit routes for the Russian empire. It was over-land trade to Persia/midle-eat, now it is oil pipe lines. if the Americans can't run it, nor the mullahs, then Russia has won!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25230932.post-18014977828265689262007-11-21T16:26:00.000-05:002007-11-21T16:26:00.000-05:00Who knows?
